Class 8 - Summer Term

Class: Class 8 Year: 2023 - 2024

Summer i – Our curriculum theme this half term is “World of Work”.  In English lessons, we will read information texts about different jobs.  We will look at jobs that involve working indoors and outdoors. 

We will continue to work towards the ASDAN qualification – Exploring Aspirations, completing units on making a drink or snack and looking after the environment.  We plan to visit Witton Park at Blackburn and take part in a litter picking activity. 

In Science, we will be learning about plants and what plants need to grow well.  We will grow plants in different conditions e.g. with and without water, with and without light, etc.  We will also plant sunflower seeds. 

In our PSHE lessons, we will learn about healthy eating and explore healthy and unhealthy food options. 

The focus for our RE lessons this half term will be Buddhism. 

We are planning a visit to the theatre at Preston College to watch “Matilda” performed by students studying Performing Arts. 

We also plan to take a group of pupils from classes 8, 9 and 11 to Sir Tom Finney Community High School in Preston to play a Tee Ball match.
