Welcome to Class 4

 

Autumn Term

Our topic this half term is, ‘Wild Weather’, which we will explore through various activities.

In our English and Communication sessions, each week, we will be learning about different types of weather through a variety of texts, including ‘Meet the weather’, ‘Shark in the Park on a Windy Day’, ‘Little Raindrop’ and many more.

The theme will continue throughout our Geography, DT and music lessons, with a focus on weather around the world, Vivaldi - The Four Seasons and the investigation and designing of kites. In PSHE we will be focusing on Self Awareness, learning about 'people who are special to us' and 'things we are good at'.

Every day we will continue to work on our individual targets and enjoy lots of fun and exciting ways to learn!

 

Spring Term

Welcome back to the Spring term 2025

This term, we are diving into an exciting new topic: The United Kingdom! Through interactive and engaging lessons, we’ll discover the fascinating geography, culture and landmarks of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This term, our English and communication sessions will take us on an exciting literary adventure across The United Kingdom! We’ll explore a range of captivating fiction and non-fiction texts, bringing each country to life as we travel together. First Stop: England - Our journey begins in bustling London, where we’ll chase the mischievous winds carrying ‘The Queen’s Hat’ on a whirlwind tour of iconic landmarks. Next, we’ll venture to Scotland, where we’ll giggle along with ‘A Wee Lassie Who Swallowed a Midgie’ and set out on an adventurous hunt for ‘Nessie the Loch Ness Monster’. In Northern Ireland, we’ll meet the legendary giant Finn McCool and uncover the secrets of the breath-taking Giant’s Causeway. Our journey concludes in Wales, where we’ll meet the friendly ‘Dilwyn the Dragon’ and uncover the magic of Welsh legends and tales.

With every story, we’ll dive into imaginative discussions, improve our communication skills, and have a lot of fun discovering the unique culture and folklore of the UK. Get ready for a term packed with adventure, storytelling, and learning!

This term in Maths, we’ll continue sharpening our number skills while diving deeper into the world of shapes! Through hands-on and multi-sensory activities, we’ll explore the fascinating properties of both 2D and 3D shapes.

Each day, we’ll work towards our individual targets, finding new and exciting ways to grow our confidence in Maths. From practical problem-solving to creative shape-building challenges, there’s always something fun and engaging to look forward to!

Every day we will continue to work on our individual targets while also enjoying lots of fun and exciting ways to learn!

 

Summer Term

Welcome Back to the Summer Term 2025!

Get ready for a fantastic term filled with adventure, discovery, and hands-on learning! This term, we’ll be exploring two exciting topics: The Tudors and Animals and Their Homes. Through interactive and engaging lessons, we’ll step back in time to uncover the fascinating world of Tudor kings and queens while also diving into the incredible habitats of animals across the globe. Expect thrilling stories, creative activities, and plenty of opportunities to bring history and nature to life!

This term, our English and communication sessions will take us on a journey through captivating tales and imaginative storytelling. With every story, we’ll spark exciting discussions, enhance our communication skills, and bring our favourite characters to life.

In Maths, we’ll be sharpening our number skills and furthering our understanding of length, size, and height. Through hands-on, multi-sensory activities, we’ll measure, compare, and problem-solve in ways that make learning fun and practical. Every day, we’ll work towards our individual targets, building confidence and discovering creative approaches to problem-solving.

We’ll continue working towards our individual goals while enjoying fun and exciting ways to learn across all subjects. Whether it’s practical problem-solving, interactive storytelling, or outdoor learning, there’s something for everyone this term!

Key Information

Summer One

· PE – Takes place on Tuesday afternoons. We’ll be heading outdoors to work on individual targets, develop fine and gross motor skills, and build social skills through play and exploration.

· Sun Protection – Please send in named sun cream and hats to ensure we’re prepared for any sunny days. A spare set of clothes, including underwear and socks, is also very helpful.

· Snacks and Lunch – Please make sure you let us know if a school dinner is needed.
